Job Description

• Position in a Level II Trauma center operating room.
• Cases include general OR with trauma, urology, podiatry, orthopedics, plastics, neurology, gynecology, endocrinology, ENT, thoracic, vascular, cardiovascular, bariatric, and DaVinci robotics.
• Holidays and weekends are required as scheduled.
• On-call shifts required: 10-15 per contract. Weekday on-call is from end of shift to 6:30 am next day; weekend on-call is 24 hours.
• Floating within specialty and to a sister campus as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland.
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in trauma, urology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, neurology, OB/GYN, endoscopy, ENT surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, cardiology, and bariatric surgery.
• Experience working with adult and geriatric patients.
• DaVinci robotics experience.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Ability to scrub and circulate in the OR.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and on-call shifts as scheduled.
• Must be flexible to float within specialty and to nearby campus as needed.

Compliance and Documentation

• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
• Immunizations and titers required: TB test, Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Tdap.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required.
• COVID vaccination not required but documentation may be requested for tracking.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start.
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
• Employment application and 5 years of work history verification required.
• Photo for badge and signed confidentiality agreement required prior to start.
• Various competency exams and certifications as applicable.

Notes

• On-call shifts are shared equally among OR staff.
• Floating may include coverage at a sister campus.
• Strong robotics experience, including DaVinci system, is highly valued.
• Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced trauma and multi-specialty OR environment.
