Description

Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) - Operating Room

Location: Pensacola, Florida
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CV OR)
Number of Beds: 1–2 Heart/Vascular rooms, 12 total OR suites
Patient Ratios: 1:1
Staffing: RNs, Techs, Orderlies, Unit Secretaries
Equipment: Standard OR equipment
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling: 5-hour shifts (may consider 10-hour shifts), on-call weekdays and weekends
Floating Policy: Float to Main OR if no vascular or heart cases available
Patient Experience: Professional and polite demeanor required

Job Responsibilities

Scrub open heart cases (required)
Scrub vascular cases
Advanced skills in scrubbing endovascular cases are a plus but not required
Procedures performed include open heart, lung, and vascular surgeries

Required Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist
Experience scrubbing open heart and vascular cases
Certification and experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Additional Information

Only one heart surgeon operates at a time; vascular surgeons are collaborative and professional
Hospital-provided scrubs required as uniform
Opportunity to work with advanced cardiovascular surgical cases
Unit offers a supportive and professional environment with experienced staff

This position is ideal for CSTs with cardiovascular OR experience seeking a travel assignment in a well-equipped and specialized surgical unit.
