Radiologic Technologist - Rockford, IL
Employment Type: Contract
Location: Rockford, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Diagnostic Imaging
- ARRT Radiography registration required
- Illinois IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required
- Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days
Job Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm, and fluoroscopic procedures
- Review patient clinical history and ensure appropriate orders and labs are in place
- Provide patient education
- Select and operate imaging equipment and accessories
- Position patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient comfort
- Initiate basic life support when necessary
- Determine radiographic technique and exposure factors following ALARA principles
- Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure
- Report and document safety incidents or adverse events per protocol
- Process images, review for quality control, and ensure proper identification
- Use radiology information systems (including PACS) to complete records and submit images for physician review
- Assist with medical record and image sharing as needed
- Document all pertinent procedure information in the electronic medical record, including medication reconciliation
- Provide practical instruction for radiography students and new technologists
- Apply patient safety principles during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients
- Operate mobile radiologic equipment in various settings such as operating room, emergency room, or bedside
- Assist radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations
- Prepare contrast media and assist in administration
- Adjust and coordinate patient and staff schedules as needed
- Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of electronic medical records, PACS, and imaging equipment
