Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Overview

Join a Level 1 Trauma 18-bed Operating Room team providing care during a variety of surgical procedures including General, Robotic, Laparoscopic, Trauma, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Burns, Urology, GYN, and Transplant surgeries.


Work Schedule

  • Variable shifts: days/evenings, 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
  • Call required Monday-Friday 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM
  • Weekend and holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care during surgical procedures
  • Circulate with focus on Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spine, and General Surgery cases
  • Collaborate closely with the surgical team
  • Maintain patient records in EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in ENT, Genitourinary (GU), Plastics, and Burns cases

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or instructor level
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
  • Unit-specific competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual renewal required)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 1 year of start)
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending results allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation including:
    • Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate (updated annually)
  • References: 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
