Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU 4N
Location: Savannah, Georgia
Unit: PCU 4N (Progressive Care Unit)
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
Seeking a Registered Nurse with PCU experience for a 12-bed unit combining Med-Surg and Stepdown care. The unit cares for patients with conditions such as sickle cell disease, heart failure, and other medical-surgical diagnoses. Nurses are assigned as needed between Med-Surg and Stepdown roles.
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5 depending on acuity
- Common Diagnoses: Med-Surg, Sickle Cell, Heart Failure, etc.
- Telemetry: Required skill; PCU nurses will titrate drips (set rate only)
- Phlebotomy: Nurses pull their own labs (no dedicated phlebotomy staff)
- Charge Nurse: Yes, charge nurse takes an assignment
- Nurse Aides: Yes, ratio 1 aide to 12 patients
- Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Nasal cannula, face masks, BiPAP
- Telemetry Monitoring: No Tele/Monitor Techs on unit; monitored remotely
- Tele Monitor Brand: Space Lab
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling allowed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Yes
- Call/Standby: No
- Floating: No
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs required
- Orientation: One day computer skills with knowledge assessment, plus two shifts with preceptor (12-hour day shifts)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Successful completion of one travel nursing assignment
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Notes
- Strict 100-mile radius rule; local candidates will not be considered
- Nurses are not required to read their own telemetry strips
This position is ideal for experienced PCU nurses who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable working in a combined Med-Surg/Stepdown environment with telemetry skills.
