Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)
Location: Lander, Wyoming
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Med/Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on scientific nursing principles. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications (oral, subcutaneous, IV).
- Monitor and report adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures and post-treatment home care.
- Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor and adjust specialized patient equipment; interpret electronic displays.
- Provide bedside care for a variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs.
- Assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
- Respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards and protocols.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Utilize time management skills and maintain accurate, timely documentation.
- May occasionally care for pediatric/adolescent patients (no dedicated pediatric unit).
- May need to float between multiple campuses depending on census.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wyoming
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

- Candidates must have certifications and licenses attached to their submission.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Occasional care of pediatric/adolescent patients may be required.
- Experience with community hospital settings is relevant.
