Occupational Therapist
Location: Hermiston, Oregon
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist provides therapeutic services to help patients regain optimal function in daily activities such as self-care, leisure, and work. Care is provided in patients' homes, requiring the therapist to have their own car. The role involves evaluation, assessment, and implementation of the physician’s plan of care, working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ functional status and interpret physician’s plan of care
- Complete assessments and reassessments using objective tests and measurements
- Communicate treatment observations and suggestions within the interdisciplinary team
- Provide education and direction to patients and coworkers
- Document all communications, coordination, and treatment activities accurately
- Adapt to emergency situations and monitor changes in patient condition
- Support organizational mission, values, policies, and procedures
- Participate in required education programs
- May be floated to other qualified departments as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation and the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association
Licenses & Certifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Oregon
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance (required for travel to patient homes)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred
- Registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association
- CRASE training if assignment extends beyond 6 months
Additional Information
- Must have own transportation as patient care is home-based
- Experience with physical disability, rehabilitation, mental health, elderly population, long-term care, home health, and hospice is desirable
- Compassion and empathy for patients experiencing grief, pain, or trauma are essential
