Registered Nurse - ICU
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Job Details
- Unit: SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit)
- Shift: 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A (Rotating weekends)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Call Requirements: None
- Floating: Required (travelers must be prepared to float to other units)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas (temporary licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Preferred Skills
- Experience in MICU & MSICU
- Exposure to IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- Exposure to CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
- Experience with Meditech documentation system
Unit Procedures
- Chest tubes, tracheostomies, GI scopes
- Intubations, central lines, arterial lines
- NG tubes, Foley catheters, dressing changes
Work Environment & Policies
- Badging in and out for shifts required
- Full 30-minute lunch break mandatory
- Punctuality is critical (clock-in by 6:38 am/pm; after 6:45 considered tardy)
- Dress code: Navy scrub top and pants, navy or white scrub jacket
- Nail policy: Clean and healthy nails
- Hair: Neat, clean, no extreme styles or colors
- Facial hair: Clean and neatly trimmed
- Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; exceptions handled individually
- Piercings: Only ear piercings allowed; other visible piercings prohibited
