Job Opportunity: Pediatrics Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: April 8, 2025
Job Description
- Pediatric RN position with NICU experience required.
- Rotating shifts: 36 hours; every other week (EOW), every other holiday (EOH).
- Unit: Pediatric Medical/Surgical with preferred experience in:
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Prematurity
- Apnea of Prematurity (AOP)
- Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
- Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia/Chronic Lung Disease (BLD/CLD)
- Cardiac defects
- Feeding issues
- Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) including iatrogenic NAS
- Tracheostomy care (required)
- May be required to float to a main location in Baltimore.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (refer to unit description).
- Other certifications such as CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE may be required depending on unit assignment.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I-9 or attestation.
- Government-issued photo ID.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, nationwide and state-specific searches.
- Education verification.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for pediatric units).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination/declination as applicable).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (for 2025-26 season).
- COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location but documentation or declination may be collected for tracking.
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start.
- Verification of previous 5 years of work history.
Additional Notes
- Medication, pharmacology, and competency exams may be required depending on specialty.
- Color blindness testing required for all candidates.
- Age-specific competency exams required.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for this pediatric location.
- Photo for badge with specific background required.
- Candidates must sign confidentiality agreement, dress code acknowledgment, and other facility-specific documents prior to start.
- Portfolio Epic training test-out option available for eligible candidates.
This position is ideal for pediatric RNs with NICU experience seeking a travel contract in Maryland. Prior travel experience is not required.
