Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (36 or 48 hour contract by traveler preference)
Unit Details:
- 42 beds on unit
- 1:6/1:7 nurse-to-patient ratios
- 400 bed facility, Level 2 trauma center
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alabama
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Key Requirements & Compliance
- Must live at least 90 miles from the facility
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SS trace, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS license verification required
- NIH Stroke Certification required (must be current within 1 year and updated annually; not required for PEDS, NICU, or surgery specialties)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- HIPAA attestation and competency exams (Core Exams I-III preferred) required
- Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results must be completed and submitted prior to orientation
- Physical exam and drug testing (10 panel) required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Fit mask test required within 12 months prior to start (specific approved mask models)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Flu vaccination required for all placements starting on or after 9/15; no declinations accepted except medical or religious exemptions on facility form (mask required if exempt)
- COVID vaccination is voluntary
Additional Information
- Must provide valid Driver’s License/State ID matching RN license name
- Two clinical references required, preferably within last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary)
- Employment application/resume required
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
- Preferred name for badge must be confirmed prior to start
- Candidate photo (passport-style, no nose ring) required within 72 hours of signing contract for badge creation
