Job Opportunity: OR Tech / Surgical Tech

Location: Tracy, California

Job Summary

• Prepare sterile fields for surgical operations, including setup of sterile instruments.
• Assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, and draping patients.
• Support surgical team by passing instruments, holding retractors, and anticipating needs during surgery.
• Maintain department functionality by distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
• May perform specific procedures and assist in orienting new staff.
• On-call responsibilities with a 20-minute response time, including overnight, weekends, and holidays (typically one day per week and one weekend per month).

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Military training as a scrub tech
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Job Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons consistently to achieve quality patient care
• Establish and maintain sterile fields, including tables, tools, and patient draping
• Prepare and check supplies and equipment for surgical procedures
• Complete routine and priority tasks within departmental timeframes
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, updating appointments, and managing electronic health records (EHR)
• Maintain accurate documentation related to supply inventory and orders
• Ensure a clean, safe operating room environment before and after procedures
• Inspect and calibrate equipment, report malfunctions
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient protected health information (PHI)
• Comply with all department standards, policies, and regulatory requirements

Additional Requirements

• On-call availability with a 20-minute response time, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must pass a 7-year background check and other standard screenings
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test required annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required, including TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Flu vaccine (seasonal), and drug screening
• Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance documents prior to start
