Job Description

• Minimum of 2+ years current experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry required.
• Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.
• Pediatric experience and PALS certification preferred but not required.
• Schedule: 36/48 hours.
• RN must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered.
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
• Start date on job is the start date needed.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Must hold a current Kentucky nursing license or a compact nursing license valid in Kentucky.

Certifications

• BLS (American Heart Association) – front and back of certificate required if not electronic.
• ACLS (American Heart Association) – required for all RNs except Psych and some Med/Surg units.
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification – required for RN specialties except OR and Psych.
• Telemetry and EKG Unit Exam – must be completed within one year prior to start; annual update required.

Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing.

Health Requirements

• Proof of immunizations or positive titers for:

  • MMR (2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (3 vaccine series or positive titer or declination)
  • Influenza vaccine (administered between October and March; exemptions require approval)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years; Td not accepted; declinations accepted)
• Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clearance to work without restrictions.
• TB testing: QuantiFERON blood test within one year prior to start.
• Drug screen (ARH 20/20 panel) within 30 days of start, excluding marijuana/THC.

Background and Compliance

• 7-year background check including education and employment verifications.
• Verification on Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry within 30 days prior to start.
• Two professional references required (one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor) within the last year.
• Signed and dated job description acknowledgment.
• Completion of required compliance forms and assignment confirmation within 24 hours of offer acceptance.

Competency and Skills

• Unit-specific skills checklist and competency exam within one year prior to start; annual updates required.
• Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives, and fire safety.

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
