Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - NICU

Location: Long Beach, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Call: Every other shift
• Float: Required to float between General Pediatrics, PICU, and NICU
• Patient Age Group: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience managing Bubble CPAP
• Experience managing ventilators such as HFOV, HFJV, Servo U, Astral Home Ventilators
• Must be comfortable floating to different pediatric units as needed
• Unit accepts first-time travel therapists (prior travel experience not required)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• State license verification required

Systems & Documentation

• Documentation system: EPIC (completion of EPIC education modules required prior to start)
• Medication systems: Pyxis, Accudose, Omnicell

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including standard 7-year search and federal exclusions
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start date (annual renewal required)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • TDAP (within last 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine (Nov-April, declination allowed)
  • COVID vaccination record preferred
• Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana) within 1 year of start date
• Annual competency exams and skills checklists required
• Two professional references required
• Completion of facility-specific education modules including HIPAA and YouLearn

Notes

• Candidates within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible for local pay rates
• Candidates must be prepared to complete required education modules prior to or at orientation
• Floating between units and call responsibilities are mandatory parts of the role
