Physical Therapist - Contract Position

Location: Robinson, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, directing, and administering Physical Therapy services as prescribed by a licensed provider. Services may be provided in inpatient, outpatient, and/or home health settings. The goal is to restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, prevent or limit physical disabilities, and increase patient independence to enhance overall functioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Treat patients using Physical Therapy modalities (e.g., ultrasound, NMES, iontophoresis) and skilled therapy techniques (e.g., manual muscle testing, joint ROM measurements).
• Instruct patients on the use of adaptive/assistive equipment.
• Supervise and direct Physical Therapy Assistants (PTAs).
• Collaborate with the Rehab team and other departments to achieve positive clinical outcomes.
• Perform assessments based on physician orders and interpret results within licensure scope.
• Design treatment programs for patients with varying disabilities and medical conditions.
• Develop realistic short- and long-term treatment goals involving patients and families.
• Monitor treatment effectiveness and recommend changes to physicians as needed.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation and patient charge entry in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in departmental budget planning related to Physical Therapy needs.
• Maintain patient safety and comply with safety procedures to reduce healthcare errors.
• Engage in performance improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• Current Illinois Physical Therapist License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of personal auto insurance.
• Minimum of 1 year of Physical Therapy experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete them timely.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

• This is a non-exempt position.
• No direct reports other than Physical Therapy Assistants.
• Work environment focuses on patient safety and quality care.
