Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - CVOR (Days)
Location: Midland, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Job Description
This role functions as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room, specifically in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures and problem-solving related to the procedure being performed.
- Verifying items on the physician preference card and ensuring accurate patient billing for supplies.
- Proper use, assembly, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and disposables.
- Ensuring all equipment, supplies, and instruments are correctly assembled and in working condition for surgical procedures.
- Maintaining and monitoring the sterile field, recognizing breaks in technique.
- Setting up the sterile field with instruments in a timely manner.
- Keeping accurate accounts of medications, sponges, instruments, and sharps on the sterile field per policy.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience.
- Open Heart Surgery experience required.
- Experience in a tertiary care center and/or designated Level I or II trauma center required.
- Active NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) Certification.
- Active American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Completed Skills Checklist relevant to CVOR within the last year.
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.
- Must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates within 50 miles will not be considered).
Additional Information
- Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs.
- Electronic Medical Record system used: Epic.
- On-call rate available for CVOR.
