Job Opportunity: PICU Registered Nurse

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Accepting first-time travel nurses with minimum 2 years of PICU experience (including exposure to CICU).
  • Must be fully vaccinated (no exceptions).
  • Requests for Return to Office (RTO) must be submitted at time of application; max 5 days can be requested.
  • No block scheduling requests allowed except for weekends (Friday-Sunday).
  • Every other weekend (EOW) scheduling required.
  • One holiday shift required during the contract.
  • Valid compact nursing licenses accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of identity (government-issued photo ID).
  • Social Security Card or number.
  • I-9 or attestation.
  • E-Verify documentation.
  • Criminal background check (7-year, updated annually, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years).
  • Education verification (transcript/diploma).
  • Fingerprinting completed onsite first day.
  • Health screening form completed within 60 days prior to start.
  • Senate Bill 38 Criminal Disclosure form completed prior to start.
  • Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable).
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • TDAP within 10 years.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
    • Hepatitis B series or positive titer (declination not accepted).
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (declinations not accepted).
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
  • Unit-specific competency exams and annual updates.
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing for pediatric medication exam (100% pass rate required).

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Must work every other weekend.
  • One holiday shift required during contract.
  • Weekend block scheduling allowed only Friday through Sunday.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is mandatory.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates with prior employment at this facility are ineligible for contract positions for 1 year after their term date.
  • Facility is latex-free; candidates with latex allergy do not require special approval.
  • Onsite fingerprinting and background checks are completed on the first day.
  • Candidates must carry photo ID during hours of service.

References & History

  • Minimum 2 professional references required.
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment.
  • Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility over 1 year.
