Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (MedSurg RN - Renal)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MedSurg RN - Renal)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Days, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Patient Ratios: 1:6-7
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including holiday rotation
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required to float within scope to other med/surg units if needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Job Requirements & Expectations
- Schedule Flexibility: Approval for block scheduling can be requested but is not guaranteed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted for this travel position
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Floating: Must be willing to float to other med/surg units as needed
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November (peak in August-September); new or extension assignments during this time should be considered carefully

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Identification: Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required
- Work Eligibility: I-9 form and E-Verify attestation required
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations & Health Screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccines: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use (virtual questionnaire)
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers preferred (may vary by facility)
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable units
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4 hours for Florence location
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo required (frontal view, shoulders up, solid light background)
- Acknowledgments & Agreements: Candidates must sign assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, system user agreement, and user access request prior to start
- Additional Facility Documents: MINI orientation review and acknowledgement required
Notes
- Candidates must have all required licenses and certifications valid and in hand before start date.
- Certifications expiring within 30 days of start are not accepted; renewal or scheduled course required.
- Floating to other units is expected as part of the role.
- Facility may accommodate block scheduling upon approval but it is not guaranteed.
- No local candidates accepted for this travel contract.
