Physical Therapist
Location: Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
The Physical Therapist is responsible for implementing physician orders for physical therapy services within an interdisciplinary environment. The goal is to help patients return to as independent and safe a lifestyle as possible. This role requires knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients. The therapist must assess patient status, interpret relevant information, and tailor care to age-specific needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing patient evaluations using appropriate functional tests and measures.
- Assimilating objective data with social factors, medical stability, activity restrictions, and comorbidities to determine functional deficits.
- Constructing short-term, long-term, and personal/family goals with appropriate frequency and duration.
- Developing therapy diagnoses and plans of care.
- Physically managing equipment and patients safely.
- Documenting securely and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Applying critical thinking in patient evaluation and treatment planning.
- Using physical agent modalities such as moist heat as appropriate.
- Utilizing age-specific patient care indicators related to musculoskeletal, nervous, and integumentary systems.
- Identifying learning needs of patients and family members.
- Collaborating as a team member to assist patients and families throughout acute therapy care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Mississippi.
- Minimum of 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year.
- Experience in an Acute Care setting.
- Experience in a Rehabilitation setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Additional Information
- Must be able to tolerate physically demanding tasks involving moving equipment and patients while following safety measures.
- This position requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- The job includes other related duties as assigned.
