Registered Nurse - PACU

Location: Roseburg, Oregon
Specialty: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in PACU with floating responsibilities into Pre-op and Recovery phases.
• Rotate between Pre-op, PACU, and Recovery areas.
• Facility includes multiple ORs and Endoscopy suites.
• Patient care phases include Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by area (Pre-op 1:2, PACU 1:1 or 1:3, Recovery 1:2 or 1:3).
• Common cases include General surgery, GYN, Orthopedics & sports medicine, Hand, Podiatry, Eyes, ENT, and Endoscopy.

Schedule

• 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each.
• Varied start times between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Schedule created by manager/scheduler; flexibility required to cover staffing gaps.
• No weekend, night, or holiday call requirements.

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS and ACLS required.
• PALS preferred.
• Must have experience with Meditech EMR.
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to life-threatening arrhythmias (RNs only, not monitor techs).

Orientation & Support

• General orientation including scavenger hunt.
• 1-2 days with a preceptor.
• Assigned buddy for support until comfortable.
• Scrubs provided.

Additional Information

• Floating between multiple units required.
• Medical assistants support nursing staff with patient admission and discharge.
• Emergency OR license not required at time of application; facility willing to request a 90-day emergency license.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license for Oregon.
• Experience in PACU with Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery.
• Meditech EMR experience.
• ACLS and BLS certifications.
