Job Description

The Radiation Therapist delivers radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate, precise, and high-quality care in a supportive and healing environment. The role involves collaboration with front office staff, radiation oncology nurses, physicists, and dosimetrists to support patients through all phases of treatment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering accurate radiation therapy treatments using proper setup and calculation parameters.
• Processing and filming orthogonal/port films as prescribed.
• Maintaining and updating patient scheduling for treatments, simulations, and related procedures.
• Utilizing proper safety procedures and reporting equipment malfunctions or safety incidents promptly.
• Simulating patients and designing custom blockings, selecting and placing immobilization devices to optimize patient comfort and reproducibility.
• Performing calculations using computer systems to ensure treatment accuracy.
• Maintaining treatment charges and a clean, organized work area.
• Conducting daily quality assurance checks on treatment machines, simulators, and CT scanners, reporting deviations immediately.
• Participating in team efforts such as charting, stocking supplies, and improving patient and guest satisfaction.
• Attending and actively participating in weekly chart rounds.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of therapy equipment such as linear accelerators, HDR, CT, simulators, and information systems; familiarity with Varian equipment preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with sensitivity to patient needs to create and maintain a healing experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively under the clinical guidance of Radiation Oncologists.
• Commitment to contributing ideas and efforts to improve quality of patient care.

License Requirement

• Must hold a valid license as a Radiation Therapist in California.
