Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Long Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility
Location: Winnemucca, Nevada
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a skilled nursing facility with 34 beds (currently 22 residents), all semi-private rooms.
- Facility attached to a critical-access hospital.
- EMR system: Cerner.
- Patient population includes diagnoses such as COPD, diabetes, cognitive deficits, and multiple comorbidities.
- No ventilators or tracheostomies on site.
- No IVs or titratable drips required.
- No telemonitors.
- Nurses administer respiratory therapy and manage home CPAP & BiPAP equipment.
- Pharmacy on-site with on-call availability during night shifts.
Shift & Scheduling
- 12-hour shifts, typically 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
- Staffing ratios:
- Day shift: 2 nurses and 4 CNAs
- Night shift: 1 nurse and 3-4 CNAs
- Modified self-scheduling; flexibility required to help fill staffing gaps.
- Weekend requirement typically every other weekend.
- May be asked to participate in holiday rotation.
- No call or standby requirements.
- Floating to memory care unit as needed.
- Orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor.
- Scrub color: Navy blue for RNs.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Current RN license.
- BLS certification required.
- Prefer candidates with leadership experience such as charge nurse.
- Experience with cognitive deficits preferred, including skills in patient redirection and interaction.
- IV certification not required.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
Team & Support
- Interdisciplinary team includes PT, OT, SLP, DON, Resident Care Coordinator, MDS Coordinator, Resident Advocate, Dietician, Finance, NP, and Medical Director as needed.
- Physician and NP coverage available after hours.
- DON or charge nurse available on every shift; leadership support present.

- No block scheduling guaranteed; schedule finalized by management balancing staffing needs.
