Location: Cary, North Carolina
Employment Type: Traveler - Backfill
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for patient safety and performing high-quality MRI studies. This role includes effective communication with radiologists and other customers, and may involve training new technologists or patient coordinators. The technologist operates imaging equipment, interviews patients to explain procedures, ensures patient safety, troubleshoots equipment, and escalates complex issues as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate MRI and related imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images, including advanced studies.
• Interview patients to explain MRI procedures and address concerns with tact and courtesy.
• Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection techniques.
• Communicate effectively with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
• Train new technologists and patient coordinators, providing guidance and quality checks.
• Troubleshoot MRI scanners and peripheral equipment to prevent downtime or delays in patient care.
• Escalate complex technical or operational issues to supervisors or support teams.
• Local travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• ARRT (MR) certification required.
• Venipuncture certification required.
• BLS CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Valid state driver’s license as applicable.
• State licensure as required.
• Minimum of 2 years MRI experience preferred (based on higher requirement interpretation).
• Proficiency in running advanced MRI studies independently.
• Ability to work independently and manage customer interactions effectively.
• Strong patient care skills with the ability to explain complex medical terms in an understandable way.

• Candidate must be able to work in a self-directed environment.
• Local travel may be necessary during the assignment.
