Job Opportunity: Nurse - Transitional Care Unit
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work varied shifts (shift lengths and days vary; flexibility required)
- Scheduled 36 hours per week after first full week of orientation
- No guarantee of hours or shift preference
- May float to Medical-Surgical and Surgical Pediatrics units
- Unit size: 32 beds (Transitional Care Unit)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio:
- Day: 1 nurse to 8 patients with 1 aide per 6 patients
- Night: 1 nurse to 8 patients
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid RN license in Hawaii
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Transitional Care Unit within the last year
- BLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have an active Hawaii nursing license by the start of the assignment
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification is not required unless mandated by the agency
Additional Requirements
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required before contract start
- Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
- Professional nursing attire required
Equipment & Procedures
- Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis
- Care involving wound vac, chest tubes, tube feeding (NG/G-Tubes), tracheostomy care, PICC/PORT lines
Orientation & Training
- Orientation provided for each unit
This position requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced transitional care environment.
