Description
ICU Nurse Manager
Location: Billings, Montana
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately)
Job Summary
This role involves managing and supervising nursing departments, typically for one unit. The ICU Nurse Manager collaborates with nursing leaders and other facility managers to ensure excellent patient care, achieve financial objectives, and foster leadership development. Responsibilities include developing departmental structure, processes, and outcome standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day tactical activities such as staffing and equipment availability (50% of role).
- Oversee operational tasks including budget management, supply acquisition, and employee performance evaluations (40%).
- Participate in strategic planning and goal development aligned with organizational plans (10%).
- Oversee clinical nursing environment and contribute to standards of care.
- Facilitate collaborative problem-solving and shared decision-making.
- Manage budgets and ensure effective use of resources to meet financial goals.
- Promote professionalism and employee engagement on the unit.
- Ensure sufficient and competent staffing through hiring, orientation, retention, and competency verification.
- Provide mentorship and professional educational opportunities; evaluate staff competency via performance and peer reviews.
- Coordinate compliance with patient safety initiatives and regulatory bodies (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS).
- Support integration of healing and compassionate care principles.
- Monitor and improve patient satisfaction using service metrics and benchmarks.
- Partner with physicians to achieve clinical, operational, and service goals.
- Support activities involving student nurses and encourage staff participation in community health organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification
- Experience in leadership roles
