Job Description

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse provides direct and individualized nursing care to adult patients before and after surgical procedures. Responsibilities include:

• Assessing patient conditions
• Administering medications
• Monitoring vital signs
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response
• Initiating the computerized Plan of Care on admission
• Performing general nursing duties across departments under supervision
• Maintaining patient confidentiality
• Providing empathetic and compassionate care
• Communicating effectively with diverse populations
• Supporting patient age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial needs
• Flexibility to float to other qualified departments as needed
• Participating in required education programs related to quality and safety standards

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current RN license in the State of Oregon
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Evidence of continuing education appropriate to skill level and practice area

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN degree
• Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN)
• Previous Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• CRASE training (required if assignment extends beyond 6 months)
