Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
  • Shifts: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (rotating day/night shifts, 7pm-7:30am and 7am-7:30pm). Shift rotation may be required based on operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety testing; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
  • Education verification required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including capability assessment for essential job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome and cannot be skipped.
  • Modules typically take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
  • Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) completed during orientation; passing scores required.

Additional Requirements

  • References: Two professional references from within one year of start date required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
  • Skills checklist required annually.
  • Fingerprint attestation required for Ohio BCI/FBI results, valid for one year.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is accepted but not explicitly required beyond the Stepdown experience requirement.
  • Candidates must be prepared for rotating shifts and holiday work.
  • Compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing requirements is mandatory for assignment start and continuation.
