Physical Therapist - Contract

Location: Lamar, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, consulting, and treating patients across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. This role includes supervising and instructing professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students within the physical therapy department. The therapist ensures patients progress to their prior level of function or maximum medical improvement according to the Plan of Care.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments and reassessments as required by policy.
• Maintain accurate patient care records including progress reports, daily notes, and special reports.
• Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants.
• Communicate effectively with employees, physicians, patients, families, and administration.
• Adapt to changing job situations requiring independent judgment.
• Provide hands-on assessment, assistance, and exercise to patients.
• Lift and move patients and equipment (≥ 20 pounds) as needed.
• Counsel patients and families effectively.

Work Environment

• Treat patients in multiple settings including inpatient and outpatient.
• Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage for inpatient/swing bed evaluations.
• Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and emergency situations.
• May require extended hours depending on job necessity.

Required Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Current Colorado Physical Therapist licensure.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Rehabilitation Therapy.

Special Demands

• Strong communication skills.
• Manual dexterity and physical agility.
• Visual and hearing acuity to receive patient feedback.

Reporting

Reports directly to the Rehabilitation Department Manager.

Note: No prior travel experience is required for this position.
