Physical Therapist Job Opportunity

Location: Artesia, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Primarily hospital-based outpatient physical therapy with some opportunity to flex into inpatient musculoskeletal rehab units.
• Patient load: 8 to 10 patients per day.
• Patient population includes juvenile (typically 5 years and older) through geriatrics.
• Common diagnoses: total joint replacements, back/shoulder/foot pain, and some neurological cases (TBI, stroke, Parkinson's).

Job Duties

• Perform comprehensive musculoskeletal assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Deliver skilled physical therapy interventions.
• Monitor patient progress and educate patients and family members.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare providers.
• Document services in compliance with legal, ethical, and reimbursement standards.

Work Setting & Schedule

• Mixed setting: primarily outpatient with some inpatient rehab coverage.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 12 PM to 1 PM lunch break.
• Weekend rotation: approximately 1 weekend every 5 weeks covering inpatient units.
• Holiday rotation may be required.
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.

Staffing Support

• Supported by 2 Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs).

Required Qualifications

• Physical Therapist state license for New Mexico.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient physical therapy experience preferred; candidates with inpatient-only experience will also be considered.
• First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply (prior travel experience not required).

Dress Code

• Business casual (collared shirt with khaki or black pants) or solid-colored scrubs.

This position offers a diverse caseload in a primarily outpatient setting with some inpatient rehab exposure, suitable for PTs with at least one year of outpatient experience or inpatient experience looking to expand their skills.
