Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU
Location: Klamath Falls, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Patient types include cardiac, post catheterization/pacemaker, pneumonia, COVID-19, alcohol-related cases, ICU downgrades
- No open heart patients on this unit
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts
- Day shift: 05:45 AM – 6:15 PM
- Night shift: 5:30 PM – 6:15 AM
- Weekend requirement: Typically every other weekend (may vary)
- Holiday requirement: Yes
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating: Not required, but may be requested if skill set allows and RN agrees
Staffing & Support
- Charge nurse present in the department, acts as hospital supervisor 24/7
- Nurse aides available (ratio approximately 8-9 patients per aide)
- Remote telemetry support via central monitoring unit
- Monitor techs available to assist
- RNs read telemetry strips; basic rhythm interpretation experience ideal but not mandatory
Clinical Responsibilities
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation (at least basic level)
- Cardiac drip titrations (excluding pressors or sedation)
- RNs are required to titrate insulin drips
- Common titratable and/or set rate drips include:
- Insulin
- Heparin
- Cardizem
- Nitro
- Amiodarone
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
Orientation
- Unit-specific orientation required
- Duration: 1-2 shifts depending on experience and prior familiarity with the facility
- Night shift orientation includes every other weekend scheduling
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- ACLS Certification
- BLS Certification

- Dress code: Clean and professional attire, no specific scrub color required
