Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7 PM - 7:30 AM), totaling 36 hours per week
  • Estimated patient ratios: Not available
  • May be required to float to other units

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and state fingerprinting (BCI)
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Monthly monitoring through federal exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and no contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine (adult dose)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination accepted)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency and Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply)

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
  • Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
