Job Opportunity: Pediatric Cath Lab Tech
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Start Date: ASAP
Weekend Requirement: Yes, only when taking call
On-Call Requirement: Yes
Job Description
- Assist physicians during pediatric cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Operate complex radiologic imaging equipment including fluoroscopy and ultrasonography.
- Circulate in procedure room and operate imaging equipment for both adult and congenital cases.
- Cross-train to other service areas such as Electrophysiology (EP) and Hybrid OR.
- Prepare patients and supplies under sterile conditions.
- Scrub in with physicians and assist during procedures.
- Use fine motor skills for prepping supplies and equipment (e.g., threading stents and balloons on wires).
- Obtain x-rays accurately while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Operate automatic injectors and select appropriate contrast agents under physician direction.
- Provide patient care during examinations in collaboration with other staff.
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment; coordinate borrowing equipment as needed.
- Work independently while on-call with department physicians and nurses.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Oregon.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist.
- Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year.
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Cardiac Interventional and/or Vascular Interventional certification from ASRT (RCES or RCIS preferred).
- Knowledge and skills as an EP/Cath Lab technologist.

- Radiation dosimetry badge required prior to start.
- Physical exam, fit mask testing, and various immunizations/vaccinations required per facility policy.
- Background checks, education verifications, and references required as part of credentialing.
- Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required.
- Drug testing required within 3 months prior to start.
- Compliance with facility-specific policies and training modules required prior to start.
Certifications Required (Must be AHA Provider Only)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Immunization and Health Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or signed declination.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (immune titer or vaccination).
- Hepatitis B vaccine series or signed declination.
- Varicella immune titer or vaccination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination.
- Fit mask testing within one year prior to start (N95 or equivalent).
References and Background
- Two professional references from direct supervisors within the last 24 months required.
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history.
- Background check and work history verification required and must be initiated within 24 hours of contract signing.
