Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry Nights
Location: Shiloh, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour nights (1845 to 0715), 3 days per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday block scheduling)
- Unit: Medical/Surgical/Cardiac Telemetry
- Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, weekend position
- Floating: May be required to float between nearby locations and within the facility
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days within 13-week contract
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months (including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- Professional license primary source verification (Illinois permanent license required; no pending licenses)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Required facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene and dress code policies, and regulatory compliance education (annual)
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months of start)
- Employment application and professional references required
Additional Notes
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Some units may require additional certifications such as Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) depending on assignment
- Candidates must adhere to facility policies including fingernail and hand hygiene policies or risk being sent home
- Orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approximately 16 hours)
- Floating may be required within the scope of practice to meet facility needs
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of Med-Surg/Cardiac Telemetry experience seeking a weekend night travel contract in an acute care Magnet hospital setting. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
