Description
Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule includes variable days from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, including weekends.
- Call shifts required from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, approximately 4-6 call shifts every 4 weeks depending on staffing and unit needs.
- Patient population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics.
- Unit provides care for higher acuity pediatric patients, including trauma and surgery cases.
- Operates as a Level One Pediatric Trauma and Surgery Center.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatrics Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year.
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association: ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be current and AHA provider approved (no instructor or certificate of completion accepted).
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, completed within 3 months prior to start.
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or signed declination).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Required immunities or vaccinations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with boosters or declinations as applicable).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination.
- Fit mask testing required within one year prior to start (N95 or equivalent).
- Facility-specific compliance modules and professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from supervisors or managers within the last 24 months required.
- Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start, including privacy, security, harassment prevention, and unit-specific training.
- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date (no planned unavailability without prior notification).
Work Environment
- High-acuity pediatric operating room setting.
- State’s only academic pediatric center with advanced medical procedures.
- Call responsibilities and variable shifts require flexibility.
