Description
Registered Nurse (Telemetry) - Travel Assignment
Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Start Date: ASAP
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On Call Requirement: None
Nurse/Patient Ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
Patient Type: Cardiac and Telemetry (Not a Stepdown unit)
Temp-to-Perm: Possible
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse practices independently in a similar clinical setting, providing routine and complex care. The nurse manages clinical situations, makes appropriate assignments, and delegates tasks to other care providers. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of assigned patients, addressing complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs, administering medications and treatments, monitoring effectiveness and side effects, documenting patient information, and providing education to patients and families.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 1 year telemetry experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
- Use nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Address complex patient and family needs
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitor effects
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients and caregivers
Additional Information
- This is a full-time position
- The unit cares for cardiac and telemetry patients but is not a stepdown unit
