Description
Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, occasional 8:30 AM start)
- Rotating weekends: 1 weekend every 4 weeks
- Must be flexible with scheduling; zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences
- May be asked to float to other facilities within the system if needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cardiac Sonographer license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Sonographer experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- National certification: ARDMS, RDCS, or AE
- Experience with GE and Philips ultrasound systems, including GE Healthcare equipment
- Skills in 3D strain image enhancement, Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), Stress Echo, and Endocardiography Transesophageal Echo (Endo TE)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if education was obtained outside the U.S.
- Fingerprinting (if applicable by position) completed in North Carolina prior to start
- Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test completed within the current calendar year and updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Completion of health history form and any required health screenings
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC approved
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA or ARC approved (commonly required for cardiac-related specialties)
- National tech certification: ARDMS or CCI (RDCS or RCS) required for Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Pass/Fail testing (EPIC or Dysrhythmia/EKG testing) as applicable
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer (based on specialty requirements)
Additional Requirements
- Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Important Notes
- Candidate must be aware of and agree to the job description and scheduling requirements
- Compliance deadlines are strict; all documentation must be completed prior to start date
- Candidate must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, group photos, or altered backgrounds)
- Floating to other facilities within the system is a requirement of the role
This position offers a structured schedule with rotating weekends and requires a highly skilled and certified Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer with experience on specific ultrasound equipment and advanced echo techniques. Compliance with all documentation, certifications, and health requirements is mandatory for clearance and assignment start.
