Registered Nurse (Med Tele)

Location: Kankakee, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Department: Med Tele RN
• Beds: 31
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-12
• Common Diagnoses: CHF, strokes, chest pain, diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, detox, underlying cardiac conditions, cath lab recoveries
• Experience with radial band and femoral cath recoveries preferred
• RNs read telemetry; centralized tele tech support available
• Respiratory Therapy/Equipment: Intermittent CPAP/BiPAP only
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Team Lead during day (does not take patients), Charge nurse nights/weekends/holidays (takes patients)
• Scrub Color: Caribbean colored scrubs

Shift & Scheduling

• Shift Length: 12 hours (5 AM - 5 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating: May float to medical floors/step-down units to care for telemetry-level patients
• Orientation: 1 shift (12 hours) unit-specific orientation

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Illinois RN license (must have in hand)
• BLS Certification
• Valid Driver’s License required for submission

Experience & Skills

• EPIC experience required
• Preferred: Prior travel experience (not mandatory)
• Experience with titratable drips NOT required (RNs do not titrate drips)
• Common drips used: Lasix, heparin, bumex, protonix, octreotide

Additional Notes

• Local candidates living within 20 miles of the facility may be considered for local placement
• Facility requires clinical prescreen; if recommended, hiring manager will respond within 24 hours without a second phone interview

This position is ideal for Med Tele RNs with solid telemetry experience, EPIC proficiency, and Illinois licensure looking for a 13-week contract in a supportive team environment.
