Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Chillicothe, Missouri

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 1 year of experience, preferably with critical care or emergency situations. First-time travelers are accepted if they have 2 years of previous respiratory experience. Weekend rotations are required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • CPFT (Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist)
• Skills and experience in:

  • Intubation assistance and extubation
  • Nasal airway suctioning and aerosol setup for both mask and tracheostomy
  • Medication delivery including Combivent administration and metered dose inhaler (MDI) use
  • Ventilator management including BiPAP and Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation (IMV)
  • COVID-related respiratory care

Special Requirements

• Experience with COPD/asthma exacerbations, pneumonia with complications, emergency patients, and occasional pediatric/infant patients in the emergency department
• Skills in intubations, ventilator management, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV), high flow oxygen therapy (HFOT), conscious sedation, nocturnal oxygen studies, and chest physiotherapy

Schedule & Hours

• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
• Weekend rotation required
• No block scheduling accommodation

Licensure & Compliance

• Pending licenses are not accepted
• Government-issued ID required
• Background checks including criminal, statewide, and federal screenings required and must be current
• Drug testing required within 1 year of start and must remain valid throughout assignment
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Annual compliance training and facility-specific policy acknowledgments required

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
• Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be current
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be completed prior to start

• Must be able to work within the scope of practice and float within the service line as needed

This position offers an opportunity to work in a critical care environment with a variety of respiratory therapy procedures and patient populations, including emergency and pediatric cases. Candidates should be prepared for weekend rotations and have strong ventilator and airway management skills.
