Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Dialysis

Location: Princeton, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with hemodialysis experience to work in a dialysis unit equipped with 5 machines (2008T Fresenius). The unit typically has patient-to-nurse ratios of 2:1 or 4:1 with dialysis tech support, and critical care patients require 1:1 nursing. The dialysis supervisor also takes patient assignments.


Unit Details

  • Patient Ratios:
    • 2 patients per RN (typical)
    • 4 patients per RN plus 1 dialysis tech
    • Critical care patients 1:1 RN
  • Equipment: 2008T Fresenius dialysis machines
  • Patient Types: Includes ICU/CCU patients requiring dialysis; respiratory therapists manage vents, CPAP, BiPAP
  • Monitoring: Central monitor tech reads strips; home unit RN also involved
  • Orientation: Unit-specific orientation during the first week

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Shift Type: 12-hour day shifts
  • Scheduling: Block scheduling may be possible; no self-scheduling
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM, with possible call that evening and Sunday
  • Holiday Requirement: Call if contract nurse is available
  • Call/Standby: To be discussed with interested RN
  • Floating: No floating except to ER, isolation room, ICU/CCU for prescribed hemodialysis
  • Dress Code: Any color scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license
  • Hemodialysis experience
  • BLS Certification (AHA)

Additional Notes

  • 100-mile radius rule applies
  • Charge nurse role is filled by dialysis supervisor who also takes patient assignments
  • No requirement for RNs to titrate drips
  • Occasional 7 PM call shifts may be required
