Schedule

  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
  • Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Clinical Skills and Competencies

  • Airway Management and Suctioning:
    • Endotracheal tube suctioning
    • Extubation
    • Nasal airway suctioning
    • Oral airway placement and suctioning
    • Oropharyngeal suctioning
    • Sputum specimen collection
    • Tracheostomy suctioning
  • Medication Administration:
    • Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent
    • Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids
    • Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (INo)
    • Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Xopenex
  • Medication Delivery Systems:
    • Aerosol setup mask and trach
    • Metered dose inhaler
  • Nebulizer Use:
    • Handheld, T-piece, Trach collar, Ultrasonic
  • Oxygen Therapy: High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Ventilator Management:
    • BiPAP, CPAP
    • Troubleshooting high pressure alarms
    • Weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) interpretation

Required Background and Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM quarterly checks
  • HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • Education verification of highest related education
  • State-specific searches and registries as applicable
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include standard panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) with annual renewal
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as required
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Other facility-specific compliance documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, and regulatory education

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required, including medication/pharmacology competency
  • Ability to float within scope of practice
  • Must adhere to facility policies including parking and dress code

Notes

  • Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this travel contract
  • Candidates with pending licenses are accepted
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Epic experience is a must for this role
