Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• 13-week contract assignment
• Call required 2 times per schedule
• Must be able to circulate and scrub during surgeries
• Patient mix includes all OR specialties except open heart surgery
• Experience required in robotic and ENT surgeries
• Experience in ortho, vascular, general, thoracic, and neuro surgeries required
• Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center
• Charting system used: EPIC
• Scrubs provided
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of current acute care or OR experience
• Prior travel experience not required

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience in ENT surgery with at least 1 year of recent experience within the last year
• Experience in orthopedic surgery
• Experience in vascular surgery
• Experience in thoracic surgery
• Experience in neurology
• Experience with robotic surgery

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
• Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
• Drug screen within 30 days of start
• Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal and alias searches
• Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing required prior to start (updated annually)
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Color blindness screening if job tasks require color discrimination
• Completion of required competency exams (e.g., medication test, EKG/dysrhythmia, IV therapy) within specified timeframes
• Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation required prior to start
• References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required
• Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start date verified)

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, trauma center environment
• Must be comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties
• Candidate must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start
• Floating policy applies for transfers between sites
• Pass/fail testing for clinical competencies required with remediation process if needed
