    Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse

    Location: Spokane Valley, Washington
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 14 weeks


    Job Summary

    Seeking a Hospice Registered Nurse to provide skilled hospice care in Spokane Valley and surrounding areas. This is a day shift position with 8-hour shifts. The nurse will typically have a 1:1 patient ratio but may visit up to 6 patients per day.


    Requirements

    Experience

    • Minimum 1 year of skilled hospice nursing experience required
    • Home Care Home Base (HCHB) experience required
    • First-time travelers not accepted

    Licensure & Certifications

    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington (pending licenses accepted)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

    Other Requirements

    • Must have own transportation; occasional travel radius up to 50+ miles
    • Weekend shifts not required
    • No on-call or floating between units required
    • Locals within 50-75 miles radius considered

    Work Environment

    • Facility type: Home Health / Hospice
    • Attire: Any basic color scrubs
    • Charting system: EPIC / HCHB (laptop provided)
    • Parking: Free
    • Mileage reimbursement: IRS standard

    Compliance & Documentation Highlights

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Immunizations and health requirements including:
      • TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years

    Training & Competency

    • Completion of required WorkRamp modules annually, including:
      • Regulatory requirements
      • Specialty-specific modules for Hospice/Home Health
      • System and regional specialty modules as applicable
    • Competency exams as applicable by profession
    • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
    • Epic training modules required within a week of orientation

    Additional Notes

    • Guaranteed hours with possibility of up to one shift call-off every two weeks
    • No block scheduling accommodations
    • Float policy acknowledgement may be required (floating within reasonable distance)
    • Must comply with state-specific background and registry checks for Washington

    This position is ideal for experienced hospice RNs with home care experience who are comfortable with travel assignments and providing compassionate end-of-life care in a home health setting.
