Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Night shift position: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Specialty: Medical/Surgical Telemetry nursing
  • Must have a minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel assignment

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Ohio RN license or a license from a compact state, must be in hand before start
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 18 months (1.5 years) recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • CVOR certification
  • CST certification
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification
  • Successful completion of pass/fail testing for EKG and medication administration
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and/or titers required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT within 12 months) or chest X-ray if past positive
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Background & Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID required (must be carried on assignment)
  • Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, updated annually
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually
  • Education verification required
  • References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar area
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break longer than 30 days
  • Flu vaccine exemptions require agency approval and facility review
  • Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) required during orientation unless exempt due to recent contract history
  • Must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
