Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana

Job Summary

Seeking experienced Registered Nurses for the Emergency Department (ED) to work primarily mid-shift (11a-11p, 1p-1a, or 3p-3a) with flexibility to meet department needs.

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience (higher end of 4-5 years stated)
• Preferably experience in a Level 3 or higher trauma center
• Experience working with EPIC ASAP system preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Required Certifications (Must have prior to start)

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if possible
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) is a plus

Shift Details

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Mostly mid-shift hours: 11am-11pm, 1pm-1am, or 3pm-3am
• Flexibility required to meet department needs
• Limited to no requests for time off during contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 4 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in a Level 3 or above trauma center
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
• Completion and acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual
• Verification of state license (primary source verification)
• NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, or AP licenses
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

• Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam
• Annual review of facility dress code policy
• Completion of confidentiality and PHI pledge agreements

• Locals are accepted at the same pay rate
• Preference for candidates without vacation or travel plans during the contract period
