Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Grants Pass, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide respiratory care for patients on medical floors, adult critical care, and the emergency room. Responsibilities include:
- Breathing treatments
- Secretion mobilization
- Non-invasive and invasive ventilation
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Intubation assistance
- Drawing and analyzing blood gases
- Obtaining EKGs
Equipment Used
- Ventilators: Avea, Puritan Bennett 840, 3100 B HFOV, VentiPac transport ventilator
- Non-invasive ventilators: V60 and Vision
- IPV
- Capnostream 20 ETCO2
- OmniCell medication dispenser
- EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification (no CRT accepted)
- Active Oregon state licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and comfort attending deliveries and stabilizing neonates
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in respiratory therapy
Work Schedule & Environment
- Variable shifts; details to be confirmed
- Floating to other respiratory therapy units throughout the hospital may be required
- Approximately 12-14 treatments per 4-hour round or managing 4-5 ventilators
- Dress code: Scrubs; no facial piercings except ears; tattoos must be covered
Orientation & Training
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation during the first work week
- One precepted shift to learn patient care protocols, charting, and unit layout
Additional Notes
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
- Call-off or cancellation possible up to 24 hours before shift during the 13-week contract
- Non-Oregon licensed RRTs may be eligible for a 90-day temporary license if permanent license is not available before assignment start
