Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Night Shift)
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
- Experience Required: Minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience prior to travel
- License Requirement: Must have a permanent Ohio RN license or a compact state license in hand
- Certifications Required:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience totaling at least 18 months, including experience within the last year
- Minimum of 18 months total travel nursing experience
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current CST certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background checks including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace
- Nationwide and state criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- Education verification
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
- References: Two professional references from employment within one year, from a manager or supervisor
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online onboarding and training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation (90% passing for medication, 80% for ECG)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break in employment
- Flu vaccine exemptions require agency approval and facility review
- Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 6 months may need to repeat onboarding modules and competency exams
