Job Opportunity: Pediatric RN - Cardiac ICU

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU setting.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio varies by shift and patient acuity:
    • 1:1 for ICU status patients
    • 1:2 for ICU status patients
    • 1:3 for stepdown/non-ICU patients

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with pediatric patients in an inpatient setting
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Licenses

  • License verification and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to assignment start.

Additional Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Completion of specialty competency exams and core competencies with minimum passing scores.
  • Health and immunization requirements including but not limited to:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Tdap within last 10 years
    • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, with mask requirement if declined)
    • Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Fit testing for respiratory protection
  • Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Background checks including criminal, employment, and education verifications.
  • Completion of onboarding requirements including unit-specific training, skills checklists, and electronic health record system testing.

  • Ongoing competency and health requirements must be maintained throughout the assignment.
