Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Role involves working in a dual capacity:
    • Preoperative area: IV initiation, patient assessment, and education (ratio 1:3)
    • Endoscopy suite: circulating nurse (ratio 1:1)
  • Responsible for safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
  • Float between like units required.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Open to block scheduling.
  • No weekend shifts.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia with primary source verification (State License 1 Verification and NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • Minimum 2 years of endoscopy nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification issued by American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current BLS certification issued by American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • E-Verify or attestation
  • Background check (7-year criminal history, nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 3)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification from primary source
  • Drug screening (9-panel within last 12 months; instant acceptable)
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (updated annually)
  • Fit mask testing within one year (updated annually)
  • Immunizations and titers including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination form)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titers or 2 vaccines, boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination form)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines, boosters if needed)
    • Flu vaccine required annually (medical/religious exemptions accepted with approval)
    • COVID-19 vaccination required prior to start (booster preferred; exemptions subject to approval)
  • Additional health documents as applicable (e.g., CBC, eye exam, color blind exam)

Work Environment

  • Trauma Level 1, teaching hospital setting
  • Patient ratios: 1:2 overall; 1:3 in preop, 1:1 as circulator
  • Charting system: Cerner Sorian (1st generation)
  • Parking available (cost borne by employee)
  • Accessible by public transportation (Metro and bus routes)

  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment.
  • Candidates must be prepared to float between similar units.
  • No weekend shifts required.
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required.
  • Employment application must include licensure, certifications, education, and employment history.
  • Candidates with prior work history over 1 year require performance evaluations on file.
