Description

Respiratory Therapist

Location: Dickinson, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Required Qualifications

  • North Dakota Respiratory Therapy License required at time of submission
  • Certifications required:
    • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (preferred)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Preferred Certifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Job Details

  • Patient population: All age ranges (neonates, pediatrics, adults)
  • Work areas: Emergency Room, inpatient units, some outpatient
  • Typical duties: Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), EKGs, all respiratory therapy duties
  • Intubation: Assist only; independent intubation not required
  • Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
  • Respiratory equipment used: PB980 ventilators, Hamilton C1, V60 BiPAP
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7am–7pm), rotating days and nights
  • Weekend requirement: Every 3rd weekend
  • Holiday requirement: Yes, holidays in rotation
  • Call/standby: No call or standby required
  • Orientation: 1 to 2 weeks depending on experience
  • May be the only Respiratory Therapist on site during a shift
  • Hospitalist or Intensivist coverage 24/7
  • No Respiratory Manager/Supervisor/Lead Therapist on each shift (days M-F)
  • Dress code: Black scrubs preferred but any color is acceptable

Additional Information

  • Fit testing required; facial hair may prevent passing fit test and could result in contract cancellation if unable to comply
  • Independent work expected
  • No self-scheduling or block scheduling allowed
  • Radius rule: Candidates must be located within 50 miles and cannot have current or recent employment with certain affiliated healthcare systems
  • Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals

This position offers a diverse patient population and a variety of respiratory therapy duties in a fast-paced environment with rotating shifts and weekend/holiday coverage.
