Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• 36-40 hours per week, with overtime billable after 40 hours
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area
• Patient types primarily Pulmonary and Medical Surgical
• Unit size: 23 beds
• Experience with drips such as Heparin
• May care for COVID-19 positive patients
• EMR system used: EPIC
• Call back and on-call shifts available with additional compensation
• Charge nurse and precepting roles available with additional pay

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• Minimum 24 months of Medical Surgical experience (required)
• Pulmonary patient care experience (required)
• Experience caring for pulmonary/ventilated patients on BiPAP, trach care (highly preferred)
• Charge nurse experience (required)
• Level I trauma experience (highly preferred)
• Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC (required)
• Valid driver’s license (required)
• Skills checklist specific to Medical Surgical discipline (required)
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Orientation date is fixed; candidates must be able to start on the specified date
• First-time travel nurses will be considered if they meet the 2+ years Medical Surgical experience requirement
• Work history and resume must clearly demonstrate the required Medical Surgical experience

Specialty Experience

• Minimum 2 years (24 months) Medical Surgical experience required
• Pulmonary patient care experience required
• Prior travel experience is not required
