Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department / Medical Floor
Location: Big Sky, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse works collaboratively with the healthcare team to assess patient needs, plan and implement patient and family education, and initiate appropriate interventions. This role involves providing care in a busy emergency and medical floor setting with a focus on stroke and trauma competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- American Heart Association ACLS certification
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- American Heart Association PALS certification
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Essential Job Functions
- Collect comprehensive patient health data and perform assessments
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Promote health and safety in the care environment
- Maintain and enhance nursing practice quality and effectiveness
- Evaluate own nursing practice against professional standards and regulations
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Integrate ethical and research-based practices into nursing care
- Provide leadership within the professional practice setting
- Comply with policies related to hyper acute and acute stroke care
- Participate in annual stroke education (4 hours) and trauma-related education (6 hours)
Schedule & Work Environment
- Regular and sustained attendance required
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours
- On-call duties may be required
- Ability to work varied shifts in a busy, stressful environment
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking
- Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders
- Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling
- Continuous fine finger movements and close visual acuity
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, infectious diseases, and emotionally challenging situations
Additional Information
- Must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
- Facility reserves the right to cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience is required for this position
